Vaulted Ceilings

Vaulted ceilings are a French Architectural term for an arched that is formed to provide a space with a ceiling or roof. Vaulted ceilings used to be only used in cathedrals and basilicas. Recently, however, it has been used in modern style homes to make a space look larger than it should be.

One of the main characteristics of vaulted ceilings are to give resistance to the walls and the ceilings too. There are different types of vaulted ceilings, all in different materials. Some are made of concrete, bricks, or wood. They all serve a purpose – aesthetics. Vaulted ceilings give rooms a more light and airy feeling, especially in a smaller room. Vaulted ceilings allow for skylights.

Below are some great examples of vaulted ceilings.
