Just in Time for Summer- Summer Design Inpiration

What;s better than the beginning of the warm weather that comes in San Diego when June hits? A little summer design inspiration of course! From bright colors to bold patterns, Summer brings a whole new approach to home design.

Warm weather often calls for fresh color palettes whithin the home. However, it's not necessary to do a complete change in all your furniture to get this summer's hottest hues. Go from your normal design to vivid tones like orchids, or a subdued gray and blue that is currently trending within interior designers alike. Home decor accents are the best way to design on a budget, and not drastically change your home.

-Swap pillows, throws, and paintings. They take minimal effort and little investment.

With the warm months upon us, a touch of sparkle is always an attractive addition to rooms in your home. Light fixtures like crystal chandeliers can grace your bedrooms and bathrooms. They add visual drama that helps to reflect light and can be used to seperate surface transitions on walls, showers, and backsplashes.

-Mixing crystal accents with organic accents like marble and wood adds a striking and chic contrast look in your home. If you don't have it in your budget, add glass like candles, vases, etc. Spice up the room with a pop of color in florals and voala! Instant home makeover!

With the warm weather, who wants to stay cooped up in the house all day? Get a little vitamin C while relaxing by the pool or outdoors. The best way to do it? With garden furniture, of course! Your outoor wold should be beautiful, comfortable, and in sync with it's surroundings. Keep in mind that proportions are everything, so be sure that if you have a small space, don't use over-sized furniture and vice-versa. And just how important is color? It's huge! Color is all about intensity (bright or dull) and value (light or dark). Think about this when you're picking the right outdoor furniture.. And remember, not everything can be a statement piece. Pick some thing that you want to highlight and allow everything else to be backstaged. (Got a plain table? Make the chairs bold and striking!)

-Outdoor furniture is everything these days. If you're going to have a lot of company over, be sure there's enough seating!

And while you're thinking about changing up the home for summer, be in touch with the styles for the season. There are three main home design styles that are dominating the summer design trends- tropical, floral, and indoor-outdoor.

Tropical: This includes a combination of blues and greens along with viberant tribal elents and prints. And if that's not quite your thing, no worries. This season we're witnessing a new kind of tropical that includes bright, breezy, and flirty. Bold colors (like yellows and oranges) and exotic prints. But don't go overboard. Minimal is always best. Include a few home decorations in vibrant green and one in a tropical print. If you aren't sure, try just going with cushions and curtains. Chairs and coffee tables are safe, too.
Floral: That same spring floral theme is still around, and it's still in touch with summer. If you have floral leftovers from the previous season, you can leave them hanging out for a few more months. Be sure that you always find a balance between color and lush - decorating with floral prints can be cute and chic, or a complete disaster if you don't find the right balance. TIP: Combine them with plain surfaces like floors, tables, walls, etc. If you aren't sure, experiment with a vase or two, or even throw pillows. This is always safe, easy, and affordable!

Outdoor to Indoor: Homes can resemble gardens and that makes everything interesting. Think of outdoor furniture (pots, plants, natural elements) and then find a cute vintage-looking garden table to place in your kitchen. Fill your home with plants and add little details like wood or rocks to help balance out the home.
